1959 Pink Thunderbird

by James McLure

Directed by Sandra Hawthorne

1959 Pink Thunderbird is really two related plays. The first, Lone Star, takes place in the backyard of a Texas roadhouse bar where Roy, a prototypical good ole' goy, has returned home from Viet Nam and is trying to reintegrate himself into a normal civilian life of quaffing beer and regaling his brother, Ray, with tales of combat and love life. The companion play, Laundry and Bourbon, is set on the front porch of Roy and his oh-so-sexy wife Elizabeth's house, as she and her friend Hattie while away the afternoon folding laundry, sipping bourbon and Coke and gossiping about teh not-so-hidden secrets that are so much a part of small town life.
