About

Located in the picturesque village of Mendocino, on California's spectacular north coast, the Mendocino Theatre Company has been producing critically acclaimed live theater since 1977. The company performs in the intimate eighty-one seat Helen Schoeni Theatre on the campus of the Mendocino Art Center, staging a rich variety of plays ranging from great literary classics to modern comedies and drama.

MTC was founded as the Mendocino Performing Arts Company in 1976 by a group of dedicated theater artists led by Don Murray who found themselves living on the coast. The first production of the new company, The Visit by Fredrich Deurenmatt, opened in the spring of 1977. That first season the company staged three productions. We have been in continuous production ever since. The main stage season stretches from March through November.

If you plan to visit the Mendocino coast, please consider attending one of our productions. If you live here, you can make MTC an ongoing part of your life through regular attendance. Discounted season tickets are available online or from the box office and may be purchased until the end of the run of the first production of each season.

We offer Community Partner Benefit performances to help fellow non-profit organizations raise needed funds. Please phone Producing Director Forrest Naylor, 707-937-2718, to discuss your non-profit's fundraising needs and available performances.

Our site is constantly being revised, expanded, and updated. Please bookmark us and visit the site—and the theater—often.
