The Trip to Bountiful

by Horton Foote

Directed by Sue Winn

Is it ever really possible to go home again?

This is the question in Horton Foote’s poetic story of Mrs. Watts, an aging woman living in a cramped Houston apartment with her adult son and his abrasive wife. Yearning for the remembered freedom of her childhood home in Bountiful, Mrs. Watts sets out on a deeper journey than she could ever have imagined. Elegant and timeless, The Trip to Bountiful is a beautiful play from the recently deceased playwright (2009), often called "the American Chekhov."

One of the most popular romantic comedies of the century, Same Time, Next Year ran four years on Broadway, winning a Tony Award for lead actress Ellen Burstyn, who later recreated her role in the successful motion picture. It remains one of the world's most widely produced plays. The plot follows a love affair between two people, Doris and George, married to others, who rendezvous once a year. Twenty-five years of manners and morals are hilariously and touchingly played out by the lovers.

The Pavilion

by Craig Wright

Directed by Kennedy White

"This is the way the universe begins."

With those words, the Narrator of The Pavilion, like the Stage Manager in Our Town, takes the audience on a ride through the past, the present, and the future, introducing us to Peter and Kari, former high school sweethearts on the night of a high school reunion. Their past is broken. Can it be mended? Can time ever be coaxed into running backwards? The Pavilion is a sweepingly romantic modern classic.

Born Yesterday

by Garson Kanin

Directed by Bob Cohen

This delightful comedy classic sets one of theater's most memorable characters–sexy, unsophisticated Billie Dawn–against the corrupt political backdrop of 1945 Washington D.C., as junkyard gangster Brock arrives in D.C. to grease the senatorial wheels in favor of his post-war scrap metal business. Afraid that his uncultured girlfriend, Billie, will wreck his plans, he hires writer Paul Verrall to tutor her, but as Billie's knowledge grows, so does her insight and self-respect.
