The Helen Schoeni Theatre

Originally conceived of to host children’s theatre, the Helen Schoeni Theatre, named after an important benefactor from the early days of the Mendocino Art Center, has evolved over the years into an intimate 82 seat venue, perfect for creating the theatrical magic the company has become known for. The proscenium stage, which measures 20’ wide by 18’ deep, has been the site of many a magnificent set created by our innovative team of set and lighting designers. Audience members have commented that they’d like to move into some of them!

The lobby area is ample for the capacity of the theater, with a concessions bar offering beer and wine and a variety of goodies.

The theater building sits at the northeast quadrant of the Mendocino Art Center campus. The Art Center has a number of galleries that make for interesting exploration while you’re on the property.
