Bob Cohen
Bob Cohen joined the Mendocino Theatre Company as an actor in its inaugural production, The Visit, in 1977 and has performed in or directed dozens of plays since. His most recent acting credits include the title role in Tuesdays With Morrie, and as Ebenezer Scrooge in the 2010 holiday production of A Christmas Carol. Recent directing credits include Picnic in 2009, Deathtrap in 2010, and Born Yesterday which opens the 2011 season.
Away from the coast, Bob has performed with TheatreFirst, San Jose Repertory Theatre, San Jose Stage Company, The Valley Shakespeare Festival, Ross Valley Players and Theatre Artists of Marin. He directed the original play Loving Lady Chatterley for the Arena Renaissance Company and Woody Guthrie’s American Song for Warehouse Rep.
Over the years Bob has filled a number of roles on the management side of MTC. He was the de facto business manager of the company during its early years and in 1981 he became the company’s first employee, serving as Managing Director. During his tenure he established the season ticket and marketing programs, instituted business controls, and developed MTC’s first computerized accounting system. He has served several terms on both the Artistic Committee and the Board of Directors, and has been President of the board since May 2008.
Bob holds a BS from MIT, an MBA from Stanford University and is a graduate of the actor training program of The Drama Studio London at Berkeley. At the end of 2005 he retired from a 42 year career in marketing, advertising and brand name development. Bob has made his home in Mendocino since 1976.
