The Pillowman
by Martin McDonagh
Directed by Ann Woodhead
When this gripping, dark comedy premiered on Broadway in 2005, it won the Olivier Award for Best New Play, the Drama Critic's Circle Award, and two Tony Awards. The play is set in a grim, unspecified central European country where a writer concocts gruesome stories to entertain his mentally challenged brother, but when shocking murders are discovered that seem to mirror these tales, two detectives appear armed with more than just questions. Not for children or the faint of heart!
